Ecoembes
This week, representatives from Ecoembes came to class to discuss their company and what they do. Shown on the right is a brief collection of notes I took during their talk.
I would not say I had anything significant learning from the discussion that changed how I view design or business. But I was able to understand their company and some of their projects.
Their discussion aligned with what my group was looking into at the beginning of this semester, waste, but ended up not exploring much. As well, it aligns with my thesis that I am currently working on. My thesis explores the opportunities of ordinary materials that surround us as everyday and making an open source community that shares and learns about the techniques found by exploring ordinary materials. Ordinary materials I am considering exploring are cardboard, plastics, construction waste, and bio waste. I find it really important for the responsibility of waste to be held on the consumer. Ecoembes is a company that I had not known about prior to this class but reinforced some ideas I had created while exploring my thesis and had looked into solutions to materials that I found really fascinating and could potentially use as reference for my thesis
