I was in Copenhagen last weekend. It was a personal trip for myself. This trip had a few reasons for it occurring. Firstly was to explore a city I had never been before but has a strong industrial/product design culture and to see if it would be a place I would consider moving to after I graduate to pursue a career. Secondly, it was a trip to clear my head, take a step back from my projects, to see them in a new light, and hopefully find a new idea or approach to finishing a project. When talking about the latter for this specifci course, I feel like it helped for a bit to help me approach the remaining few weeks of this course. But things changed when I was at the Copenhagen airport waiting for my plane to depart. My group and I ha agreed to call at 15:00. I was at the airport waiting for my departure gate to be released on the boards.
I joined the call and one of the first things I hear is said by Joseph along the lines of “I have an idea that is crazy but I like it”. He proceeds to explain an idea of making a house song with lyrics about consumerist culture and including some of the words we had created for this course such as ‘Mere’. The reference he brought up as a viral TikTok song from about a year ago about a girl’s preference in a man.
I am a strong believer that music can be used as a way to influence people both consciously and subconsciously. I thought it was a really great idea from Joseph. But, I really questioned the capabilities we had to write, produce, and complete a song in less than a months time for a final. I rarely ever show it but internally, my mind went into a slight craze wondering whether or not our group had bit off way more than we could chew within the time frame.
